World Sikh Kids Network — WSKN13

Raising a Generation Rooted in Sikhi, Ready for the World

Every child deserves the opportunity to grow with knowledge, confidence, spiritual understanding and strong values.

At WSKN13, we believe that a child's journey should begin with the right foundations: a connection with Waheguru, an understanding of Gurmat, pride in Sikh heritage, the ability to learn and succeed in the world, and the compassion to use that knowledge in the service of others.

We are building a global learning network that brings together Sikh books, Punjabi and Gurbani education, Nitnem learning, turban tying, academic support, family guidance and meaningful opportunities for Seva.

From a child's first Gurmukhi letters to understanding Gurbani, from mastering a school subject to learning how to tie a Dastar, every step can help shape a confident, compassionate and capable individual.

Our mission is to nurture the whole child — intellectually, spiritually and morally — from the very beginning.

Strong Roots. Bright Minds. Spiritual Growth. A Life of Seva.

Our vision: The complete development of every child

We do not see education as something that happens only in a classroom. A child's development includes what they learn, what they believe, how they treat others and how they contribute to the world.

WSKN13 brings three essential dimensions of development together.

1. Worldly Knowledge — Preparing Children for Life

We want children to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to thrive in education and beyond.

Through Punjabi literacy, academic classes, Maths and Science support, educational guidance and admissions preparation, we aim to help children strengthen their foundations, discover their abilities and pursue their ambitions.

We encourage curiosity, independent thinking, discipline, creativity and a lifelong love of learning.

2. Spiritual Connection — Building a Relationship with Gurbani

A child's spiritual journey can begin with simple, meaningful steps: learning about Waheguru, hearing Gurbani, understanding the importance of prayer and developing a habit of reflection.

Through Gurbani reading, Nitnem learning, Japji Sahib and Rehras Sahib classes, and resources connected with OSOD13, children can be supported in developing a thoughtful and age-appropriate connection with Sikhi.

Our aim is to help children understand what they recite, appreciate its significance and gradually bring its wisdom into everyday life.

3. Gurmat Values — Learning How to Live

Gurmat is not only something to study; it is something to understand and practise.

We encourage children to learn about equality, humility, honesty, courage, compassion, discipline, sharing and Seva.

These values should be visible in the way a child treats family, classmates, neighbours and strangers.

We want children to grow into people who are knowledgeable without arrogance, successful without forgetting others, spiritually grounded and committed to the welfare of all.

A complete learning journey

At WSKN13, we aim to support children at every stage:

DiscoverMeet the Sikh Gurus and explore Sikh identity.
LearnDevelop Punjabi, Gurbani and academic skills.
UnderstandExplore meanings, history and values.
PractiseRecite, read, write, reflect and apply learning.
GrowDevelop confidence, discipline and independence.
ServeUse knowledge and abilities to benefit others.

Our programmes will continue to develop as we build connections with families, educators, Gurdwaras and the wider Sangat.

At WSKN13, we believe every child deserves to grow in three dimensions: worldly knowledge to navigate life, spiritual understanding to connect with Waheguru, and Gurmat values to live with purpose and serve humanity.

We aim to nurture all three from the very beginning — helping children become capable learners, spiritually connected individuals and compassionate human beings.

Programmes to develop

Every child learns differently. Some learn by reading, others by listening, practising, asking questions or learning alongside friends.

WSKN13 aims to provide flexible learning opportunities through online and offline classes, guided activities and community-based programmes.

Class availability, locations, age groups and schedules will be published as programmes are confirmed.

B. Gurbani Reading & Writing

Read With Respect. Understand With Care.

Gurbani learning involves more than recognising letters or memorising lines. Children also need suitable guidance to understand what they are reading and appreciate its significance.

Learning areas:

  • Gurmukhi reading practice using Gurbani.
  • Familiarity with Gurbani vocabulary.
  • Reading fluency and pronunciation.
  • Writing practice where appropriate.

Develop with partners

Stronger Families. More Confident Children.

A Sikh family of three generations reading a book together beside the Golden Temple

Children grow best when families feel supported, informed and connected.

WSKN13 recognises that parents are central to a child's worldly, spiritual and moral development. Our planned family programmes aim to create opportunities for parents to learn, share experiences and access helpful guidance.

Parenting Sessions

Supporting Children With Understanding and Care

Parenting sessions may explore practical ways to support children's learning, emotional development, confidence, discipline and family relationships.

Potential topics include:

  • Building healthy learning routines.
  • Encouraging good habits and responsibility.
  • Communicating with children at different ages.
  • Supporting children through challenges.
  • Balancing academics, screen time and family life.
  • Nurturing Sikh identity in a changing world.
  • Encouraging kindness, humility and Seva at home.
  • Building confidence without excessive pressure.
  • Supporting positive relationships between parents and children.

Sessions should be delivered by appropriately qualified or experienced contributors, with clear information about their scope.

Counselling & Family Guidance

Every family encounters different challenges. Sometimes parents need a space to ask questions, discuss concerns or find the right support.

WSKN13 aims to help families access appropriate guidance and connect with relevant professionals where available.

Potential areas of support include:

  • Educational concerns.
  • Parent-child communication.
  • Learning motivation and confidence.
  • Family learning plans.
  • Guidance on finding suitable specialist support.

Any professional counselling service must be delivered by appropriately qualified practitioners, with clear confidentiality, safeguarding and referral arrangements. General parenting sessions should not be presented as a substitute for professional mental health care.

Family Learning Together

We encourage families to make learning a shared experience.

Read a Sikh story together. Practise Punjabi for a few minutes. Explore a Gurbani meaning with a knowledgeable teacher. Choose a family Seva activity. Celebrate progress, however small.

When learning becomes part of family life, values have more opportunities to grow.

Helping Children Take Their Next Step

Educational opportunities can shape a child's future, but navigating applications, admissions requirements and preparation can sometimes feel complicated for families.

WSKN13 aims to develop an educational guidance service to help parents understand their options and prepare more confidently.

Admissions Assistance

Potential support areas include:

  • Understanding published admission requirements.
  • Identifying relevant schools, colleges or educational programmes.
  • Preparing application documents and checklists.
  • Understanding application timelines and deadlines.
  • Organising information required for applications.
  • Finding official guidance and application resources.
  • Helping families prepare questions for admissions teams.

Admissions Preparation

Depending on the programme and the availability of suitable educators, future support may include:

  • Academic readiness assessments.
  • Subject revision and foundational learning.
  • Interview preparation.
  • Communication and confidence-building.
  • Entrance assessment practice.
  • Study planning and organisation.
  • Guidance on presenting achievements and interests appropriately.

A Family-Centred Approach

Our intention is to help families become better informed and better prepared, while keeping the child's individual needs and interests at the centre.

WSKN13 would provide guidance and educational support, not guarantee admission, examination results, scholarships or placements. Applications and final decisions remain with the relevant institutions.

Specific admissions services, regions served and professional partnerships will be announced once confirmed.

Learning to Live What We Learn

At WSKN13, values should not remain words on a page. We want children to discover what they mean through everyday actions.

Ikk Onkar

Recognise the oneness of the Creator and the dignity of all people.

Equality

Treat everyone with fairness and respect.

Seva

Help others with a sincere heart.

Kirat Karni

Value honest work and personal responsibility.

Vand Chhakna

Share with others and support those in need.

Naam Simran

Develop an understanding of remembrance of the Divine.

Humility

Learn from others and recognise that everyone has something to teach us.

Courage

Stand up for what is right and act with integrity.

Compassion

Little Seva, Big Difference

Children can choose simple, age-appropriate actions such as helping at home, including a classmate, reducing waste, sharing resources or participating in suitable community activities with adult supervision.

Our planned Seva activities will help children reflect on three questions:

  • What did I do to help?
  • How might it have helped someone?
  • What can I learn from this experience?

The goal is not simply to raise successful children, but to nurture good human beings who use their abilities in the service of others.
